Backstage: Circus is an Android platformer developed as a college project at IFRJ. You play as Abel, a circus janitor who dreams of making it as a clown. The project was developed in 4 months with a team of 3 and was later showcased at Game XP during Rock in Rio 2017 — an experience that led directly to the founding of Blue Hill Games.

About

Backstage: Circus is a side-scrolling platformer for Android. You play as Abel, a circus janitor who secretly dreams of becoming a clown. Navigate the backstage, avoid obstacles, and chase your dream.

My Role

I was the sole programmer on a team of 3 (game design, art, and programming) for IFRJ’s Technology in Digital Games program. I built all gameplay systems and handled the full Unity implementation.

The project was showcased at Game XP during Rock in Rio 2017 — the experience of taking a college project to a major public event was the direct catalyst for co-founding Blue Hill Games with Lucas Pereira.
